Designer Playboy - Melanie Banfield

The horse in the photo is Designer Playboy a two year old gelding.  He was bred by the late Andrew Moody by a Design Legend out of a thoroughbred mare, being shown by myself Melanie Banfield at the 2001 ApHC UK Show.  I bought Playboy on the strength of a very poor photo at a few days of age and saw him for the first time at about two months old and I was not disappointed.  I had hopes of keeping him entire but as Playboy was a very horrid yearling he was quickly gelded and became a much nicer person.  I showed him successfully as a yearling and at this one show as a two year old but I knew he was going to be far too big a horse for me to do western and endurance with and knew I would ultimately find him a new home.  Within a few hours of the photo being taken, he was at home with his new owner Louise Plant who had come to the show looking for a horse to buy.  I miss him a lot as he is a great character but I know Louise will do far more with him than I ever could.  I am really looking forward to seeing him come out under saddle.  Good luck with Playboy Louise.
