Mystery Photo Number 2 from N/L No 14 revealed: -
Lythill Marcasite and James Baker
Thank you for choosing us to be your Mystery Photo No 2. You are looking at Lythill Marcasite (Ace) and me, James Baker.
I have owned Ace since April of last year. Tim and Janette Keeley heard about him and Tim took me and my father to see him. Ace was previously owned by Sue Atchison whose home was named The Card House, hence the name Ace. He was bred by Mr & Mrs Bottomley who live in Shropshire. He was five years old when I bought him and had done some Western work previously.
We attended the ApHC UK National Show at Moreton Morell. Although not mine nor Ace's strongest point we entered a lot of in-hand classes. However, on the day we did pretty well and I was extremely pleased when he came third in the best gelding class, 4 years and over. We then went on to the riding and I was very apprehensive. The picture you featured is when we were in the bareback equitation class. Ace went extremely well and we came third just behind Tim.
I was also extremely pleased with this result as no-one before me had ridden Ace bareback in competition. Our special highlight of the riding classes was winning the Youth Ridden Class, this made it a very memorable week-end.
We have made a strong partnership and I am absolutely delighted with Ace. It has been very enjoyable working with him this past year and hopefully in the coming years we will continue to improve together.
Thanks to everyone for a very enjoyable time and making us so welcome.
James
