Mystery Photo Number 3 from N/L No 5 revealed:-

Nocona Mystique and Susannah Fry

appaloosa horseHi, I am mystery photo number 3.  My name is Susannah Fry.  I am 28 years old, my horse is Nocona Mystique, a 5 year old gelding out of Kayitah of Nocona GD/M/1504 and Jayen Tyshion GC/S/1111.  I got Misty (stable name) on the 10th March 2001.  He was unbroken and he had been just put in a field for the last year.  On getting him home, a trip of 4 miles, I set to work on making friends so I could start to pick up his feet.  Two weeks later he was so good I had his feet trimmed and the vet did his teeth and injections (he does not like injections).  Now I was ready to start work.  I lunged him for a week then got on.  A week later I was riding out in company 2 days later out on my own.  I have a half hour lesson every week on him, first just walk then trot and so on (you can learn a lot at walk)  On the 24th June 2001 we did our first show.  We won best novice show hunter, best novice riding horse and 2nd open show hunter (what a day).  Since then we have done 3 more shows:-

  • American Horse Show Leatherhead, Surrey 5th August

One 1st, two 3rds, and a 4th

  • ApHC UK National show 18th August

One 2nd, 3rd, 4th and two 6ths

  • BAPS National 8th September

One 2nd, two 3rds and two 5ths

All that in just 6 months under saddle (English and Western).  So he is now having a well deserved rest and time to play.  I got this horse to sell on but he is staying right here now.

Susannah

PS  As a new person to Appaloosas I find the newsletter very good, I like to read members' stories.  A show near home would be nice.  What about the Bath & West show ground?

From the Editor:-
