The Royal Agricultural Society of England held their annual British equine event on the 2 nd and 3 rd November 2002. The weekend was well attended despite the horrible British weather. In addition to the many trade stands to visit there was a good representation of breed stands. These proved to be very popular and gave the various horse breed societies the opportunity to promote their breeds and horses to the general public. For the first time the ApHC UK was invited to promote the Appaloosa horse as part of the breed stand display. This is because the ApHC UK holds the only official DEFRA recognised Appaloosa breed registry in the UK. As part of the event the various breeds were also invited to give a ridden display of their horses. This was an important part of the promotion of our Appaloosa horses and the display put on by the ApHC UK representatives was a great success and well attended by the visiting public. You can read about the horses and riders who took part in the following report by Joyce Nutland who organised our participation in this event along with photos of the exhibitors who appeared on the front cover of our last newsletter.

LEE AND FANCY BRAVELY "VOLUNTEERED" THEMSELVES TO PARADE IN ENGLISH ATTIRE ON THE SUNDAY BREED DISPLAY, SINCE THEY BOTH NORMALLY ONLY RIDE WESTERN THIS WAS A PARTICULARLY BOLD THING TO ATTEMPT, FANCY HAVING NEVER GONE "ENGLISH" STYLE BEFORE.
