J A Allen Horse and Pony Breed Series: THE APPALOOSA

We are pleased to announce that the ApHC UK have signed an exclusive contract to produce the first ever full colour breed book, THE APPALOOSA for the J A Allen breed series.  Joyce Nutland will be our Editor for this new book, which will be produced and distributed in 2004.  There will be a panel drawn from a wide selection of people to decide on the final draft of the book.  There will be 2,500 copies produced in the first print run which will be distributed to a range of stockists and will be widely available in the UK.  As we are the only recognised international affiliate in the UK the ApHC have given us their approval to produce the book.

All members are invited to contribute to the book by sending in high quality colour photos of their appaloosas.  Sixty photos will be chosen for the book covering all disciplines including ridden showing, in-hand showing, western pleasure, trail, hacking, le trec, cross country, show jumping, dressage, side saddle, endurance and general photos.  The copy-write will be with the ApHC UK and you will need to provide written permission from any professional photographers.  Unfortunately we will not be able to return the photos.  You must write the name of the horse and the owner on any photos that you send in.  Photos will not be named individually in the book however we hope to have a list of acknowledgments for all those who have contributed and sent in photos that are used in the book.

We want to show the wide selection of different types of Appaloosas that are in the UK so we are looking for good quality interesting photos of all types including leopards, blankets, few spots, snowflakes, pure breds and part breds of all ages from foals to mature horses.

This is an exciting project for the ApHC UK and will help us to promote the Appaloosa horse in the UK to demonstrate not only their eye catching markings but also their versatility and wonderful temperaments.  We hope to encourage more horse owners to choose to own appaloosas, which is why we have decided to undertake and fund this project.

If you want to know more about this project or would like to send in some photos please contract Sally Chamberlain or Joyce Nutland.  Contact details in the Contact Us section of this website.
