ApHC UK NATIONAL SHOW - GREAT DAY OUT
ApHC UK members will find enclosed with the Summer newsletter the schedule for our breed show 9/10 August 2003 (see the Events Diary for full details of location). If you would like to join the ApHC UK and compete in our national show please contact the membership secretary (see the Contact Us section of this website). Alternatively you can come along and spectate and you do not have to be a member to do this.
We hope you will find plenty of classes for you to compete in. Please remember that in order to compete in APHC USA approved classes your horse MUST be APHC USA registered and the owner/exhibitor MUST be a member of the APHC USA. Please do not leave this to the last minute as it makes life very difficult for the organisers. If you have any questions at all about any of the classes you can ring any of the Directors/Regional representatives for assistance or clarification
You will see that on the Sunday we have included more dressage classes including a CRC test. WHAT IS CRC: this is where the judge assesses the WHOLE picture not movement by movement. Each CRC score comprises 3 sections: Gaits, general aspects and rider marks.
Gaits: The judge must assess each gait for its overall quality, freedom, elasticity, rhythm and regularity. Gaits accounts for less than a quarter of the total marks in the CRC system.
Rider Marks: Correct use of hands, legs, seat and general balance.
General aspects: Responsiveness/attentiveness: the horse must appear to be in a calm, confident and obedient frame of mind. To include: acceptance of contact; straightness and correct alignment on curved lines; forwardness in correct rhythm; balance; engagement; suppleness and bending; freedom through the back; quality of transitions; lateral work.
Saddles: English, Side-saddle, Spanish and Western saddles are permitted.
Bonus marks will be awarded as follows: snaffle bit (2 marks); no spurs (1 mark); no whip (1 mark); cavesson noseband (1 mark).
