Well most of you will need no introduction to Freckles (Centaur Summer Storm)as most of you will have seen her at the shows. You can see her photo on the cover page of this newsletter and a photo of me riding Freckles in the middle pages. For those of you who don't know her, she is my 6 year old, bay leopard spot mare, who I have had since she was 5 months old.
Well this year a website called 'Stable talk'in conjunction with 'Derby horse saddlery' held a competition called 'Horse Idol'' You had to write in saying why your horse was the best, I wrote in explaining how after losing my last horse in a traffic accident, I lost all my confidence, ( I was even scared handling horses) and how with the help of Freckles I slowly regained it, to the extent that I even will ride on the roads again, which is a lot when you think that I got hit by a lorry. (The first time I hacked her out I shook!!!!)
The competition was run over 10 weeks with 10 horses/ponies in each heat, we won heat 3, which meant we got a £25 voucher to spend with ''Derby House''. We did not win the final though, a lovely horse called Missy did. I don't mind though as she will always be the best horse to me!
As for other things we have done in the past year; we did ODE, Show jumping, Dressage, Hunting, Cross country, all the jumping has been small 1' - 2' , but I have managed to jump 3' at home, Freckles has just had 2 months off due to me breaking my hand and then having Laser eye surgery (I was shortsighted) I have just started to ride her again and she was an angel.
Well I won't see you all at the show this year as we will be away : but I will read all about it in the next newsletter, so good luck everyone. And see you next year, I promise!!!!!!
Love Jenny + Freckles, Roxanne + Ticky
PSas we cannot be at the show this year, we are going to donate a trophy called '''The Freckles trophy''' (so you think of us) it will be for a colour class.
The website was www.stabletalk.co.uk and another good one for spottie lovers is www.spotties.org.uk It has a great forum.
