ApHC UK Members Questionnaire 2003

46 of our members returned this questionnaire which covered the UK.  From a member in Argyll with 28 horses to the Isle of Wight with 2 horses.  Cornwall with 3 horses to Lancashire with " 1 foal". From Warwickshire : 1 horse "just for pleasure" to Cumbria with 26 equines including "carriage driving".  We certainly have a diverse range of owners out there and every discipline is covered.

Below are some of the comments put forward by members:

Reasons for not showing at APHC UK National Breed Shows :

- horses not eligible but some now are

- visited last year, will show this year

- Too far away, have part breds, do not do western

- Financial, distance, work commitments

- No Appaloosas

- Just got into them this year/new Appaloosa owner

- No transport, no support - family not interested in horses

- Horse unsound/ill on the day/unhappy traveller

- Do not understand showing rules

- Don't travel very far

- Do not show

What would you like the APHC UK to offer members: (and other comments):

- we are very impressed by all your activity and sorry we are not      able to join in.

- Northern show brilliant idea.

- Life Membership

- More information on which shows part breds can enter

- Passport service was VERY useful

- Shows a little nearer/more shows

- Regular reliable contact and advice

- More regional activities

- A national 2 day training clinic (English & Western)/judge's seminar

- Rallies, talks on Appaloosas/show clinics

- Weekend trail rides/fun rides for Appaloosas

- Happy as it is

- Saddle log programme   (NB: contact Angela Sherwin on this)

- You do a good job - can't think of anything

- You do more than enough, fantastic range, great newsletter

- I think that you cover everything but I am interested in Western riding

As you can see the Directors have addressed some of the points raised and have organised two regional shows; one in the south and one in the north as well as the national show.  There is still a lot to think about so please keep your comments and ideas coming in - the APHC UK can only go forward with membership participation.  Perhaps you could put your name forward as a Director and/or assist in helping the APHC UK.
