Supreme Show Champion: Handy to Have

The SHAPS Northern show held for the second time at Sceughmyre, near Carlisle, on Sunday July 4th 2004, was a great success, raising £1,800 for the charities REACH and STEPS (children and young people with limb abnormalities and deficiencies).

The weather was very kind on the show day and the sun helped with ice-cream sales. The fifty prizes kindly donated for the raffle resulted in the sale of £204 worth of tickets.

Spotted, Appaloosas and coloured equines were judged together with really quality animals coming before Mrs M and Miss C Dodd.

The Supreme Spotted in-hand champion was Handy to Have, a three year old mare owned by Sharon Nimmo from Biggar, Lanarkshire. The reserve champion was Capitall Adrian, a yearling colt owned by Lorrain Dobson from Stafford. Gemma Brodie, from Silloth, riding Capitall Paul won the riding horse trophy. Scherie Dermody very kindly gave a talk to the spectators and potential western riders before the start of the western classes, and this was much appreciated by all. The hi points western trophy was won by Tricia Dodds, from Hexham, Northumberland, with Suerra Indiana Jones.

Members from the ApHC and BAPS supported the show as well as SHAPS members. Many thanks to all the sponsors, helpers and exhibitors.

Next years who will be held on Sunday 26th June.
