Say NO to Live Exports - Next Stage of Campaign
In our Winter newsletter we brought to your attention the latest in the ILPH's campaign to say no to live exports and to ask you to support this campaign by signing the petition. Since the publication of the new EU draft Regulation on the Transportation of Animals there has been growing public concern about the fact that the export of British horses and ponies for slaughter could recommence. Now that the issue is in the public domain, the ILPH feels that the time is right to add public pressure to the work they have been doing with the EC and DEFRA to protect British horses and ponies from being exported live for slaughter ever again. The ILPH have now managed to obtain over 27,000 signatures in support of the campaign and they have achieved this by bringing the matter to the attention of the general public and through gaining support from organisations such as ours. Thank you to everyone who signed the petition. The mission statement of the ILPH is: "to protect horses from abuse and alleviate their suffering by rehabilitating, campaigning and educating worldwide" Their cruelty hotline number is 0870 871 1927.
